Thanksgiving Cocktails with Halo

Thanksgiving drink recipes that make for a more delicious holiday: the Festive Mule, Cranberry Gin Smash and the Cherry Boulevardier.

PRE CLASS PREP:
Pit your cherries,
Squeeze fresh juice (lime, lemon),
Pre make your ice.
Cocktail #1: Festive Mule
Ingredients:
2 oz. vodka
0.5 oz. fresh lime juice (squeeze from fresh limes or buy lime juice)
0.5 oz. fresh pineapple juice
0.25 oz. honey simple syrup (1:1 honey:water)
4 oz. ginger beer
Finishing garnishes:
Cinnamon stick, whole nutmeg (to be grated over finished cocktail), lime wheel (cut from a fresh lime)
Tools:
Jigger/shot glass
Cocktail Shaker
Copper Mule Cup
Standard-sized ice cubes
Fine grain zester/grater (eg. Microplane)
[OPTIONAL] Lewis Bag and Ice Mallet (or crushed ice)
Method:
Simple Syrup:
1. Bring one cup of water to a boil. Add one cup honey. Let cool.
Cocktail:
1. In a cocktail shaker, mix vodka, lime, pineapple juice and simple syrup. Shake well.
2. Strain into a copper cocktail mug that’s filled with crushed ice.
3. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with cinnamon stick, grated nutmeg, and lime wheel.
Cocktail #2: Cranberry Gin Smash
Ingredients:
2 oz. Gin
1 oz. fresh lemon juice (squeeze from fresh lemon or buy lemon juice)
0.5 oz. simple syrup (1:1 sugar:water)
Fresh rosemary
Dried cranberries
Cracked black pepper
Finishing garnishes:
Fresh rosemary
Dried cranberries
Tools:
Jigger/shot glass
Bar spoon
Rocks glass
Julep/Hawthorne strainer
Fine strainer
Cocktail Shaker
Standard-sized ice cubes
Simple Syrup:
1. Bring one cup of water to a boil. Add one cup sugar. Let cool.
Cocktail:
1. In a cocktail shaker, lightly muddle together herbs, cranberries and black pepper. Mix in gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Shake well.
2. Strain into a rocks glass over ice.
3. Garnish with fresh rosemary, dried cranberries.
Cocktail #3: The Cherry Boulevardier
Ingredients:
1.25 oz. Bourbon
0.75 oz. Campari
0.75 oz. Sweet vermouth
Orange zest (from an orange)
Tools:
Jigger or shot glass
Mixing glass or Yari
Bar spoon
Fruit/vegetable peeler
Julep/Hawthorne strainer
Rocks glass (preferably chilled)
Standard-sized ice cubes
Toothpick/or swizzle stick
Method:
1. Soak cherries in bourbon (let soak for 30 mins).
2. Add bourbon, Campari and sweet vermouth into a mixing glass/Yari with ice and stir until well-chilled.
3. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
4. Garnish with an orange twist (use the peeler to make the twist) and soaked cherries with toothpick or swizzle stick.
